The Performance Company’s inaugural ‘Cars and Coffee’ meeting proves a big hit

What’s better than a gathering of awesome cars and friendly, knowledgeable owners? A gathering of awesome cars and friendly, knowledgeable owners that happens to be thrown by one of the UK’s largest suppliers of aftermarket tuning gear, and all lubricated by gallons of beautifully brewed, perfectly served coffee. Sound like your kind of Saturday morning? Then you owe it to yourself to head along to the next ‘Cars and Coffee’ meeting hosted by The Performance Company (TPC).

A simple and deeply appealing concept, Cars and Coffee saw car fans from across the UK gather at TPC’s HQ on Saturday 21st May, with over 60 cars eventually making the pilgrimage to Northamptonshire. Everyone at TPC pulled out all the stops in an effort to make the first running a big success, and it showed. Cars of all shapes, sizes and ages could be seen (and heard) burbling their way around the premises, while DJ O.P.1 provided a suitably upbeat soundtrack of dance, house and much more besides.

cars and coffee event

The sheer variety of cars there on the day was nothing short of breathtaking, and it wasn’t uncommon to see Lamborghini Gallardos sharing space with box-fresh BMW M-cars, classic VWs and VXR-badged Vauxhalls. That said, there were a number of standout cars there on the day, machines that couldn’t help but stand out like a sore thumb for all the right reasons! Liberty Walk’s Mini Cooper was a case in point, its signature bodykit and collection of scoops and wings helping it to hold its own against some far rarer, more exclusive machinery. The Mini was backed up by a collection of other AirREX-shod cars, including a mighty Mk7 Golf R, an Audi S3 8P and a brand new Caddy, the only UK example to have been given an AirREX kit so far.

It wasn’t all about low-slung cars with wild bodywork though, as a number of finely honed track cars were also in attendance. The most obvious was probably Track-Tek’s Cup M3, a car which really did manage to carve out its own spot amongst the throngs of car fans and more conventional, road-based machines.

Cars and Coffee also saw a selection of trade stands pop up just for the day, lending this already impressive show a unique vibe and altering its character for the better. Car fans milled around offerings from the likes of Remus and Carbonspeed, with some spectacular automotive offerings available exclusively on the day. Remus hardware was especially prevalent on the day, the firm’s exhaust offerings to be found under a pair of gleaming M4s, a Polo GTi, E92 M3, S3 8V, a Mk6 Golf GTi and many others besides.

The inaugural Cars and Coffee was an unquantified success and a fantastic way to make a positive impact on the UK’s modified car scene, a scene which TPC considers itself privileged to be a big part of. With this in mind, it shouldn’t be all that surprising to learn that the next Cars and Coffee is already in the works and that a definitive date will be announced shortly, so we’ll keep you posted!

Milltek Gears Up For Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2016

Respected exhaust manufacturer Milltek has an impressive array of all-new, British-made products to showcase at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The company will be exhibiting there for the fifth time between the 23rd – 26th June on stand 34.

Goodwood is all about beautiful cars of course, so Milltek has upped its show ante this year, bringing its latest demonstrator models to display at the world’s greatest automotive garden party. Expect to see the company’s truly sorted Honda Civic Type R and 750bhp supercharged Ford Mustang gracing the stand – the latter being one of the most modified examples in the UK.

The last 12 months have been stellar times for enthusiasts of muscle cars, performance saloons and hot hatches, so in addition to the two above iconic motors, Milltek will also be unveiling its hotly anticipated Ford Focus RS system at the show, as well as a raft of superbly engineered upgrades for the latest VW, Audi and BMW models that the firm has created since its last appearance at Goodwood! In fact, Milltek has double figure’s worth of all-new products for show-goers to admire during the four days of the festival.

Classics are a now an important part of Milltek’s product line up, with this group of owners now a hugely important customer base for the Derbyshire firm. To this end, the company has brought its modern production techniques and material choice to the sector with the ‘Milltek Classic’ range. Aimed squarely at the discerning collector and enthusiast, this range offers a high-quality, modern take on some of the ’70s and ‘80s most iconic classics, including the VW Mk2 Golf GTI and Corrado, E36 BMW M3, Peugeot 205 GTi and Audi UR Quattro. This look, feel and fit of these smart new designs can be examined in detail with the many display systems on the Milltek stand – along with a range of bang-up-to-date performance systems.

In-keeping with the Festival of Speed’s motorsport inspired ethos, Milltek will also have its extensive range of fully FIA-approved HJS sports catalysts at the show, which offer full blue-book legality and eligibility where appropriate. A motorsport essential, these components have been proven in all almost every genre of top-level competition. Talking of which, Milltek’s two race ace ambassadors – GT World Champion Tom Onslow-Cole and Tin-Top star Lucas Orrock will also be on the stand throughout the event to meet fans and sign autographs – Lucas on the Friday and Saturday, and Tom on the Sunday. Better still, Milltek will be offering two lucky winners the chance to win track time in the Milltek fleet with both drivers. Talk about a prize that money can’t buy! Yet another great reason to stop by during the show.

An additional innovation on the Milltek stand will be the latest generation ‘ValveSonic’ system for selected BMW and Audi models. Able to electronically switch between different acoustic settings, these systems offer a choice for the discerning enthusiast looking to walk a fine line between refinement, enhancement and entertainment. Milltek’s latest version of this ingenious OEM-quality switching system is now housed in a compact unit that can be easily fitted in conjunction with any of its appropriate systems.

Outlining his firm’s 2016 FOS attendance managing director Steve Pound said. “Goodwood is always an important event for us, as it really allows us to connect with true enthusiasts. Our range for 2016 has never looked better, with a wide range of hand-finished stainless-steel systems for performance, motorsport and classic applications, each one made here in the UK. We look forward to welcoming old and new faces on our stand over the weekend.”

Milltek Takes Headline Sponsorship of Audi Driver International

Respected exhaust manufacturer Milltek has announced that it is to take the title sponsorship of the popular Audi Driver International show for 2013.

The action-packed event, now in its 11th year, offers something unique in the Audi social calendar, with a show and track day element at Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire, followed by a full gala award dinner at the nearby Hilton Hotel in Swindon, where the great and the good of the Audi world are recognised for their contributions to the scene.

As stalwart Audi enthusiasts, Milltek didn’t have to go very far to get suitable show cars for their stand, as most of them come straight from the firm’s burgeoning VW Group fleet! Parked in front of the firm’s impressive 40 foot trailer will be their own demo RS4, an S5 showcasing their exciting new ‘Valvesonic’ technology and their new Golf ‘RS’ – A beautifully engineered showcase of a Golf R, but unusually fitted with an Audi RS engine! The very best of both worlds and thought to be the first running car thus equipped in the UK.

As well as fast-lapping sessions on the circuit throughout the day, there will be demo drives and parade laps. The paddock area promises many additional attractions including trade stands and displays, a Show ’n’ Shine and Concours, club line-ups and displays, a technical forum, car sales and Autojumble area.

The Audi scene is in a very good place at the moment, and I can’t think of a better way to spend a day than meeting fellow enthusiasts and enjoying a little track time in our own demo cars. I look forward to meeting many of our dealers and end-users there too.”

Audi starts Facebook petition for the TT RS

Audi of America is doing what it can to convince its German bosses to send the TT RS to the US.

A petition on the automaker’s Facebook page says that “Audi is seriously rethinking its original plans for the range-topping TT model and wants to hear from you.” As of Monday morning, the petition had gathered 3,742 signatures.

Currently, the TT line in the United States includes only the TT and the TTS. While the 2010 TT delivers 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, the 2010 TTS features a 265-hp, 258-lb-ft four-cylinder engine. However, both models are outdone by the RS, which features a 340-hp, 331-lb-ft five-cylinder engine.

Audi would be foolish to ignore the U.S. market but now you can have your say.
