MTM Audi RS3 breaks 300 km/h barrier
The A3 Sportback is one of the family-friendly models in the Audi range. The RS3 variant does not compromise on any of the essential practical characteristics of its more basic cousin, whilst having completely different performance aspirations. With 367 PS up its sleeve, even serious sports cars can struggle to match its top speed of 155 mph (or 174 mph on request) and 0-62 mph sprint time of 4.3 seconds in standard trim.
Then MTM adds more performance parts to release a full 435 PS and 605 Nm torque, which, depending on tyre choice, can guarantee a top speed in excess of 186 mph. “The 5-cyclinder Audi motor is an excellent basis on which to add more power…”, according to MTM CEO Roland Mayer, “.. and we are developing versions with further power and torque gains”. Currently undergoing shake-down trials on the test-bed is an engine with more 500 PS which will be available in the near future.
In order that the RS3 8V should excel not only in the power but also in the appearance stakes, MTM is offering some attractive add-ons to treat both the eyes and ears whilst improving active and passive safety. Amongst these accessories are stylish Nardo wheels, uprated brakes, high-flow cat-back exhausts and re-designed carbon spoilers and diffusers. The full range of performance accessories is described in the enclosure accompanying this release. More information on MTM can be found at www.mtm-online.de.
