PPI Razor GT24 carbon engine and front hoods

PPI has 2 new upgrades for Audi R8. The first one is the new PPI RAZOR GT24 front hood for regular cars which will fit all Audi R8 with normal body. This is full carbon fiber. The other one is the PPI GT24 matte carbon fiber engine hood. The weight is only 9.7kg, which is about 50% less weight that the original hood.

ABT Power wins AUTO BILD SPORTSCAR of the Year Award

Harry Unflath, the marketing manager of ABT Sportsline, brought it to the point after the presentation of the prizes within the framework of the ESSEN MOTOR SHOW: “Again we have been awarded a prize by the competent readers of AUTO BILD SPORTSCARS for our work. This special praise pleases us very much, but it is also a challenge for the future.” However, the world’s largest tuner of vehicles of the Volkswagen group has been honoured for a vehicle which is so perfect that an improvement is hardly imaginable: The ABT R8 GT S is the epitome of the “hot open-top sports car”. The V10 engine produces 620 HP (456 kW); in 3.5 seconds it shoots from standstill to 100 km/h, the top speed being at 320 km/h – no wonder that the readers of AUTO BILD SPORTSCARS have chosen this dream vehicle for first place in the “Cabrio Tuning” category. All in all, 71,000 persons cast a vote.

“However, there are not only technical facts that make the R8 GT S a special vehicle”, enthuses Harry Unflath. “In the motorsports department of ABT, the vehicle has been optimised for light weight and optimal weight distribution. Carbon is used from hood to rear spoiler”, says the marketing manager of ABT. Apart from the high strength at low weight, the material stands out for its extravagant optical properties: It gives the ABT R8 GT S a very dynamic racing impression. The carbon inlays in the flanks and the covers of the engine and the roof represent the self-confidence of a winner - and that exact is the Spyder from the Bavarian Allgäu region. "We are very proud of our R8 GT S. But I can assure you that we will have ab(t)solute highlights in the program again in the coming model year", says Harry Unflath.

Readers of AutoBild Sportscar vote MTM Audi A1 on 1st place

A total of 71,000 readers of “AutoBild Sportscar” magazine participated in the voting for “AUTO BILD SPORTSCARS 2011” and chose their masters of about 300 tests and driving reports of the last 12 months. From 12th August to 14th October readers could evaluate 17 categories: eight series sports cars, eight tuning cars and small series. MTM, manufacturer of increased power rated Audis, achieved two places on the podium: the MTM A1 1.4 TFSI got 16,94 percent of the votes for “tuning compact cars” and distanced the 2nd place about four percent. In the category “tuning sports cars” the MTM R8 V10 Biturbo is on 3rd place.

“Continuous top results from experts are one more proof for MTM high quality work, which is also honoured by our customers” comments MTM CEO Roland Mayer the success, which will also be documented in the next issue of “AutoBild Sportscars”

Tune IT! Safe! Audi R8

The Tune IT! Safe! initiative has presented an Audi R8 police car at this year’s Essen Motor Show.

Now in its seventh year, the “Tune it! Safe!” campaign is committed to promote responsible and safe tuning, and is fully supported by car clubs and tuning companies as well as the Federal Ministry of Transport in Germany. And if a standard Audi R8 wasn’t enough to grab the show-goers’ attention, Kempten-based tuning specialist, ABT Sportsline and Hankook Tyres joined forces to create this special ABT R8 GT R model.

Originally limited to just 25 road-going units, ABT built this R8 GT R purely as a show car. Based on the 5.2 L V10 R8, not only is the GT R 100 kilos lighter that its factory counterpart but, thanks to the ABT Power Kit, it now develops 456 kW (620 hp) rather than the usual 386 kW (525 hp). That’s equates to a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of just 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h in 9.9 s and a cool 325 km/h (202 mph) top speed.

The police car livery was supplied and applied by Foliatec, while that roof-mounted RTK 7 LED light bar is from Hella. There's also carbon ceramic brakes, Recaro seats, and a roll bar.

Mansory Audi R8 V10 Spyder

Refining sports cars is more than just a business for MANSORY. Love for detail, the particular and the unique is an incentive for exceptional reconstructions. The company's latest stroke of genius impressively proves that once again. The MANSORY interpretation of the Audi R8 Spyder with its exclusive and extensive refining programme does not let just the hearts of convertible fans beat faster.

On the styling front, the model has an aggressive body kit with a front spoiler, revised side skirts and a prominent rear wing. There's also carbon fiber accents and the brand’s signature blade-like wheels. The wheels are particularly light due to the production in forging technology. The unsprung masses are thereby reduced, which improves noticeably both handling and acceleration as well as braking response. The recommended wheel/tyre combination has the size 8.5Jx20 inches with tyre dimensions 245/30ZR20 at the front. At the rear, 11.0Jx20 sized rims with tyre size 305/25ZR20 are used. The wheel/tyre combination is properly set into the scene by suspension springs for the lower suspension setting of the sports car.

Inside, the cabin can be ordered with everything from personalised floor mats to custom leather seats. If you're not ready to pony up the big bucks, you can settle for aluminium pedals and illuminated sill plates.

For added performance, the 5.2-liter V10 engine is equipped with a high-flow air filter and a sport exhaust system. Thanks to these tweaks, the engine develops 552 PS (406 kW / 544 hp) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 27 PS (20 kW / 27 hp) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).

Audi R8 Toxique

Berlin-based styling specialist, TC Concepts, has released a few photos of its new Audi R8 ‘Toxique’ body kit.

TC Concepts has yet to provide any details of the conversion, so we’ll just comment on what we see. The front bumper features massive intakes reminiscent of the TT RS’s, while down the flanks the sideblades have been blended into the car’s bodyshell, resulting in a much smoother, continuous appearance, similar to the R8 Spyder. The car has been lowered significantly and sits on massive tires with rubber so thin it looks like a strip of paint.

At the rear, there’s a raised GT-style wing and colossal carbon fibre diffuser. The GT rear light clusters sit above single-blade vents. There’s also an additional filler cap on the driver’s side.
